San Francisco-based band Girls, who got everyone in the music world to love them after releasing their first album (2009’s Album [TMT Review]), have announced that they will be releasing their second album on September 13, with a whole bunch of tourdates surrounding the record release. The new album, Father, Son, Holy Ghost, while definitely a second attempt by the band to be universally loved, has left one person feeling left out: The Virgin Mary.
“It just sucks, you know, never being a part of The Holy Trinity,” said Mary in a recent interview. “I can deal with the fact that nobody but Catholics pay much attention to me but it really hurts when your friends leave you behind.”
The Virgin Mary, who has become a huge spiritual icon and gossip-magazine favorite, gained newfound popularity when she helped the boys in Girls to form a band, but despite being one of the many “girls” to inspire the band’s name, she’s not dealing well with her former friends’ new fame. “I taught them enerything they know, I’m the girl in Girls and it just disappoints me to see more men leave their mothers behind and start paying all their attention to God and Jesus.”
The new album will be released through True Panther Sounds and is hyped as being: “A truly beautiful record and the perfect amalgamation of a band’s past and present while most importantly leaving us all excited and hungry for their future,” but to those in the know, it’s the sound of a band becoming their own, leaving their past comforts behind, and stepping into a world of the unknown.
