Ya he’s doing it. It looks like our friend Glenn Astro will be making an interesting music business career move. Following his Hologram EP last month, Glenn will actually be releasing a full-length debut album, believe it or not. I’m always impressed when artists take this remarkable step, it really gets me going.
In accordance with my reaction of throwing back a shot to youth (life is too short, no regrets, party the night away), the album is called Throwback and will drop right at the start of summer, May 25 on vinyl and sometime in June digitally, courtesy of yummy Copenhagen label Tartelet.
So this seems good right? Well who knows? But probably it will be. Glenn likes retro-styled house, soul, funk, etc., and that’s what he tackles on Throwback, mashing them together into something that sounds far more pan-genre and interpretive than the work of your standard crate-digging ostrich. Like labelmates < a href=”https://soundcloud.com/max-graef”>Max Graef and IMYRMIND (also collaborators on a couple album tracks), he’s not so far up his own record collection’s bum to not know what’s going on in contemporary music.
