Teamwork, friendship, collaboration. About a year ago I made three large posters with pictures of human triumph in the background and these three words boldly printed in the foreground. I hung them on the ceiling over my bed. It helps me authentically re-evaluate my values every morning, so I know exactly what I can bring to the table that day. When I heard about the new musical project SETH, I felt the warm glow of my values being confirmed out in the great big world. I want to share that warm glow with you, readers.
SETH is the collaborative project of NYC-based producer Gobby and vocalist James K. It’s a solution-based collaboration built upon mutual respect, good optics, and leverage. Gobby will leverage his success on musical releases like Lantern (TMT Review) and Fashion Lady (TMT Review) with vocalist James K in order to create a musical experience that’s been described as a “mutant from the valley between Portishead and IDM.” The duo will release Chick on the Moon on October 8 via UNO NYC. The EP’s first single, “Don’t Open Your Make,” has a video (see below) whose optics are, as you might expect, quite good. You can also download the track over at the UNO NYC SoundCloud. What’s that smell, you ask? That’s the smell of teamwork, friendship, and collaboration, and goddamn if it isn’t mouth watering.
