Look who (alternatively: what) is coming up in the world! No, I’m not about to regale you with some lame-ass rags-to-riches story, where an impoverished kid from the inner city grows up to became the next best thing to Billy Mays. Goldrush Music Festival, which began in 2011, and which recently unveiled its already-stellar-enough initial lineup for 2014, has just announced its two headliners for this year’s edition. They are… groovy experimental musician Eric Copeland (of Black Dice), based out of Brooklyn, and the corneas that need no introduction but rather a timid staring-into, Wolf Eyes. And within the context of a lineup that otherwise contains Mount Eerie, clipping., The Howling Hex, Thug Entrancer, DVA, and numerous others, this is obviously the biggest Gold Rush ever. No no, don’t mention the 19th century. Ever.
And for how much?! 13 bucks — about the price of a freakin’ takeout meal these days — will get you a single-day pass, and $25 will get you a two-day pass, plus a companion cassette and limited zine. As a reminder, the festival will take place September 13-14 at the Larimer Lounge and Meadowlark venues in Denver, CO. Black Dice and Wolf Eyes actually have a collaborative history, so here’s a taste of that, if you’re curious.
