The glorious delirium of summer’s high-party season may be on the wane right about now, but don’t let your dance party muscles atrophy out of existence just yet. Because, even as we speak, Heidi Sabertooth — fixture in the world of contemporary North Brooklyn electronic music, revered resident DJ at Bossa, and host of the excellent Deep Dive show on Newtown Radio — is prepping a new EP for release next month courtesy of the mighty MOTOR Collective.
Entitled The Hear of Now, the new release — which arrives September 13 on cassette and digital — is Sabertooth’s first record of full-on dance music, and (to paraphrase Rob Thomas) it’s a HOT ONE. Building on her hardware-based live techno sets, the tape is a marathon of fully hands-on work that, while rooted in the traditions of dance, also draws from Sabertooth’s long history with unconventional home recording techniques. The result is tremendous, and we are thrilled to premiere the record’s driving and positively torrential second track, “Ima,” for you today. Stream it down below, and place those pre-orders for The Hear of Now, uh, here…now.
The Hear of Now tracklisting:
