Even though 2017 is the year of “Fake News”… and a few apocalypses… and THE HYPERREALITY… and probably a few other confusing things, you can feel safe knowing that we at TMT were, like, NOT LYING when we told you last month that Florence-based producer Herva (a.k.a. Herve Atsè Corti) was planning on releasing his latest album Hyper Flux via Planet Mu on February 24.

Well, coincidentally, also NOT LYING to you is today’s date: February 24, 2017. (Well? Ring any bells? Are you putting two and two together, yet?)

Exactly! Hyper Flux is 100%, completely, and totally for real out today, and you can pick up your very own iteration of its expansive, soul-tinged-electronica goodness on your choice of formats from the Planet Mu store right now. Honest. Not a trick. WE HAVE NO AGENDA.

Well, okay, actually; maybe I was trying to pique your interest just a little bit, since today TMT is proud to host the exclusive full-album stream of Hyper Flux, right here, right now. And to heighten your experience of the album’s full-spectrum of spacious ambiance, pulse-y electro jams, and homespun world music (Corti says he “challenged myself” to play more real instruments this time around, including some homemade “weirdo instruments” that his dad invented!), you can check out Corti’s running, track-by-track commentary of the album as you listen. I know, I know: it seems “too good to be true.” But lo and behold, we got the goods to back it up right down below:

Herva’s track-by-track breakdown:

01. Esotic Energy
I had a lot of fun making this one, actually the original take was almost 20 minutes long so I decided to split it into an ambient version titled “Esotic Energy” and a groovy version - “Esotic Matter.” For the album the choice was “Esotic Energy.” It’s warm, spacey and sounds perfect as an opening tune.

02. Jitter
I miss my Roland SH101, Dukwa borrowed it to me for a while but he’s sold it so this is my last tune with this fantastic piece of gear. On Vinyl it sounds killer! I recommend playing it as close to its original speed as possible.

03. Nasty MF
Listening to it I guess that day I was quite pissed. I spent a lot of time tuning the bells “like” sound that accually is my drill press. I like to make sounds out of everything and I like to have custom tunings. They give the music a more unusual and personal flavour.

04. Rule The Sun
It’s definitely a red track. I guess I may be synesthetic, I always associate a colored shape to my tracks. It happens naturally, they just pop up in my mind..

05. Multicone
I’ve used a lot of my father’s instruments, recently I’m experimenting playing real instruments too. It’s a really deep and meditational tune and I recommend you listen to it alone at night, hopefully through good speakers to get all details. I know that I’m asking for a valuable thing but music takes time to be listen properly, no rush.

06. Lly Spirals
It’s the oldest track here but I like how it sits alongside the others. I think you can clearly hear how my sound has changed through time but personally I still like my older tunes like when I made ‘em. That vocal is sublime.

07. Solar Xub
Definitely a Green track. It’s my favorite track that I made yet. I’ve been totally obsessed by this one for months. I really listen to it, till insanity! Anyway when I was making it, I wasn’t too much into it. I got the beat going but I felt that something was missing… and then the magic happened.. that mad robot-guitar solo is still blowing me away!

08. Meta Wave
One of my first attempts at playing a bass guitar in a track. I had a lot of fun recording the bass line. Of course I made a lot of mistakes but editing is “your friend”! I decided to call it “Meta Wave” because it reminds me of that “new wave” flavor but in a much more synthetic scenario… I like how the title sounded mental.

09. Cops Twerk
Fucking raw straight to the point sampler, tape cassette and guitar jam. It’s quite old this one.. at the time, if I remember right, I was moving my studio so everything was unplugged.
I needed to make music and I decided to mess with the equipment I had at home that day + some stuff borrowed from my father’s studio. Sometimes a shitty set up maybe actually funny!

10. Peach
Blue and Silver track. It’s a super mental version of Electronic World Music. It’s another of my favorite tunes, it’s an evolution from Kila’s sound, it’s a link to it. If you like this tune I guess you should give a spin to Kila too.

11. Dedicated (feat. Mar G)
Initially there was only the melody line. Mar G was listening to it too and since she liked it I proposed for her to write down some lyrics. When Mar G started singing when the “magic happen”, the track sounded so clear to me that I just finished it in one take no editing. When I stopped my revox I was literally shaking from the thrill. It’s dedicated to my family.

12. Zykmed
Sometimes my girlfriend likes to stay in studio with me, that day it was quite late in the night and she was really tired. I saw that she was slowly falling asleep on the couch so I started playing some music to help her sleep, anyway I let myself get so much into that it ended up into a track! I feel it as a perfect ending tune, don’t you?
