When you hit on a sound that is just right, why mess with what ain’t broken, am I right?
Austin, Texas synth-worshippers at Holodeck don’t seem to mind. With a mad-cap pace of what seems to be a new release every day, H-deck is announcing the companion release to February’s Rosewater Ceremony, an understated ambient/krautrock mind-massager from Austin’s Neil Lord, who also plays in fellow Holodeck groups Thousand Foot Whale Claw and Single Lash.
Lord’s new release, dubbed Rosewater Ceremony Part II: Guardian of Solitude, “is the reflective sequel to his euphoric Holodeck debut,” and I’m practically feeling its positive, soothing sonic balms already. I’m a nervous airplane flier, so when I had to make a few cross-country trips earlier in the year, I didn’t need any drugs or a single serve bottle of rum, since the first Rosewater Ceremony put me in a most mellow mood to get through the flight. So, if Part I is any indication, Guardian of Solitude is sure to get me deeper into that relaxed state.
In addition to announcing this bad boy, we’ve got the trippy, mellow tronotape-directed clip for “Position the Inverse” streaming now down below! Pre-order the album now, ahead of its October 19 release date.
