Has Record Store Day come and gone already? It seems like a single day’s business hours is hardly enough time to peruse and acquire all of the special-edition records that were made available that day, especially when at least a few of those releases were made available only for that day, as though April 18 were the calendrical equivalent of Star Trek doors closing during a starship emergency. Some people might have forgotten to pick up certain releases, and still others might’ve preemptively spent the day toking/celebrating ahead of the work week; in recognition of this, UK label Hyperdub has done us a solid.
The vinyl version of the Teklife Next Life compilation, previously available specifically for Record Store Day (and even more previously nonexistent in lieu of CD and digital versions), can now be purchased on the Hyperdub website. All proceeds will continue to go to the family of late legend DJ Rashad, and the release page maintains the “edition of 1000,” so these are conceivably remnants of the original RSD pressing. Don’t quote me on that though.
No more excuses, footwork and Teklife fans (which is almost a redundancy); go here to purchase.
