The weather may still be just a bit warmer than you’d prefer, but Oakland label Inner Islands is ready to put on the flannel and let the pumpkin spice flow like wine with a new pair of calming tones for these waning days of summer.
The tapes come courtesy of Ashan, a.k.a. Mr. Inner Islands himself, Sean Conrad, and Wisconsin’s soothing sonic sculptor Inner Travels (Steve Targo). Ashan’s Transfigurations is his latest under that alias; while Conrad’s other project, Channelers, dropped For Being earlier this summer (yep, he’s a busy man!). Inner Travels’ latest collection of synth and field recording meditations is aptly titled Nature Spirit, and is his latest release since 2018’s digital only Heartswell.
Transfigurations and Nature Spirit are out this Friday, August 30. Pre-orders are up on Bandcamp for cassettes, and digital editions will be streaming on all your favorite platforms.
