Okay, readers. You’re cool, aren’t you? I mean, you know Jeff Mangum. We’ve already told you that this guy is a “genius” or whatever, haven’t we? And you like geniuses, don’t you? See your co-worker over there in the next cubicle? He probably doesn’t like geniuses, does he? His life hasn’t been changed by the stirring power of that Airplane On the Sea, or whatever it’s called, and he probably can’t even spell “recluse.” He’s not as sensitive to the Oversoul as you are. He probably likes Kings of Leon. Yuk. Right. So, then, this news is for you.
Jeff Mangum, earstwhile founding-member of the stupendously magnificent Neutral Milk Hotel, has announced that he’s planning five new shows in North America this summer/fall in addition to the sold-out tour he’d already booked earlier. (This is the part where you go ape-shit like a trained seal slapping his fins together for a herring. Are you doing that? Do that.) In addition, a limited number of tickets will be released for the Boston show on September 10. Those tix go on sale Tuesday (June 21) at high noon EDT, while the rest go on sale Wednesday at the same time. So even though you missed out on what you thought was your last chance to “be there” when Mangum was also “there” too, you’ve got another shot, champ. Cancel your dentist appointment, call in sick to work, smash your television, divorce your spouse, disown your kids, starve your pets, shave your balls, unplug your sick relatives’ respirators. NO DISTRACTIONS.
And hey, each newly announced date will benefit Children of the Blue Sky, an organization that aims to help rebuild the lives of Mongolian street children, by donating $1 for each ticket sold.
