And it came to pass at the end of two full years that Pharaoh Squeo dreamed that he stood by a river. And behold, there came up out of the river seven well-favored news scoops, and they fed in a meadow. And behold, seven other news posts came up after them out of the river, leanfleshed and not time sensitive, and these posts stood by the others on the brink of the river, and it came to pass that the leanfleshed posts did eat up the well favored posts. So Squeo awoke, his spirit troubled. He emailed all the magicians in Egypt, and there was none among them that could interpret the dream unto Squeo. Then spake the chief butler unto Squeo, saying, “There is a young man, a hunchbacked and unshaven jokester known as Taylor, he once interpreted my dream.” So Squeo sent for him.

And it came to pass that the unshaven jokester said, “It is not in me: The Press Release shall give Squeo an answer of peace.” He went on to explain that the dream pretty much meant that Jenny Hval has a new album coming out. Lo, it will be called Apocalypse, girl, a follow-up to last year’s collaboration with Susanna Wallumrød on Meshes of Voice, and her first solo album since 2013’s Innocence is Kinky. As it is written, the album will be released on June 9 via Sacred Bones — iTunes preorder is here.

And Taylor said unto Squeo, the dream of Squeo is one: The Press Release hath showed Squeo what Sacred Bones is about to do. Apocalypse, girl features production from Norwegian noise head Lasse Marhaug, and contributions from a wide array of musicians upon whom The Press Release has looked kindly; Swans’ Thor Harris, Jaga Jazzist’s Øystein Moen, Håvard Volden, Kyrre Laastad, Okkyung Lee, and Rhodri Davies all make appearances. And lo, a bright light appeared in the sky coming from the east. It came to the pass that it was the album trailer.
