Los Angeles-based John Tejada — a prolific and long-running purveyor of minimal, icy techno — is kickstarting his 2019 with Performance Review, an EP on his own Palette Recordings. The EP is his first release since 2018’s Live Rytm Trax.
As the press states, “Each track highlights Tejada’s artful approach to crafting grooves that blend deep origins with soulful new ground. His unmistakable sound drives the four songs throughout with a focus on layering samples, rhythm and sound design.” I mean, if you know Tejada’s sound, you know what you’re getting, and the above description sounds just about right.
Performance Review is out June 7, in vinyl and digital editions.
