Konsequenz releases compilation of lost tape recordings from Italian minimalist composer Luciano Cilio

Mailorder distributor Soundohm has partnered up with Italian label Konsequenz to bring us never-before-heard material from celebrated minimalist composer Luciano Cilio. Compiled by pianist, theorist, and composer Girolamo De Simone from tapes recorded between 1975-1976, I Nastri Ritrovati constitutes what is now only the second available outing from Cilio, who died tragically of suicide following the release of his debut album, Dialoghi Del Presente.

Belonging to the rather obscure and short-lived (dating roughly between early 1970s to late 1980s) genre of Italian minimalism, Dialoghi Del Presente was an otherworldly, avant-garde fusion of arpeggiated, raga-influenced classical guitar, wistful piano chords, operatic singing, and more. The compilation “offers a crucial window into the composer’s evolving thinking and creative impulses” leading up to the 1977 release of the album.

I Nastri Ritrovati is available now in a limited pressing of 300 numbered LPs, so act fast. Get it here before that old Italian well runs dry, and listen to Luciano’s classic Dialoghi Del Presente below:
