kwes. announces new EP Songs for Midi, dedicated to his two-year old niece, shares track "Midori"
Aw, how sweet!

Lewisham, London-based sound whiz kwes. is undoubtedly best known for his production and mixing credits on tracks by Solange, Kelela, Bobby Womack, and several other A-listers; he has also been, however, quietly releasing beautifully eclectic solo music since about the start of the decade. As a matter of fact, Warp has just announced the April 6 release of his fourth EP, Songs for Midi, and an introductory piece, “Midori,” is streaming through your music dispenser of choice (actually, just Spotify…annoying, right?).

Songs for Midi will technically be kwes’s first collection of truly new material since his 2013 debut album, Ilp. (the EP that followed shortly in its wake contained remixes only). But of course, you’d be mistaken to think that we haven’t heard from kwes. in the meantime; he’s had his two cents in this, that, and the other one-time favorite song of yours, just to namedrop a few. He has also been spending time with his two-year-old niece Midi, who, besides inspiring him to make the EP “an uplifting comment on the effervescence of youth,” painted the release’s cover (PROBABLY just for fun though; so step off, child labor people).

Listen to “Midori” below and pre-order the album here from Warp. Kwestions?
