Looking back upon my giddy hyping-up of Quarantine (TMT Review) prior to its release, it’s worth offering a statement as to whether or not my giddiness remained, post-listen. The answer, as you wait with bated breath, is… HMMMPH? —- RRRRR, PHH, AHHHH, K. Without spiraling into verbosity, my opinion is basically this: Quarantine is one hell of a grower of an album, and repeated listens should be enforced at the careful urging of knife-holding Hyperdub officials. I’m not sure I have the time nor the capacity to truly grasp all that Halo was going for, but does she care? Apparently not!
Halo’s next project of art pop abstraction is already set for release, as new EP Behind the Green Door will see the light of day more or less concurrent with a series of European live dates, listed below. The exact date (beyond “April”) of the EP’s release has yet to be revealed, so keep an eye on her or Hyperdub’s website. Or we might announce it. I can’t predict these things.
