When “Closing Shot,” Lindstrøm’s sprawling, arcadian latest single, first emerged during Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show, a promise of an EP followed swiftly. Now we know the details. Set for a July 8 release via Smalltown Supersound and the Norwegian’s own Feedelity Recordings, Windings will open with “Shot” and include two other tracks: one “destined to blow minds on dance floors as it elicits massive grins,” and the closer “a cyclical stunner that spins mesmerizingly like a mirrorball” (according to the press release).
Windings will be Lindstrøm’s first collection of solo material since 2012 albums Smalhans and Six Cups of Rebel. The interstellar-disco auteur hasn’t been completely silent during the last four years, however, putting out several official remixes and, more notably, collaborating with Todd Rundgren and Emil Nicolaisen on last year’s Runddans prog-dance opera.
