Ella Yelich-O’Connor, the New Zealand-born singer/performer known as Lorde — or as I like to call her: “The Sonic Youth of Taylor Swifts” — has had quite a “charmed” ride since breaking out in 2003 with her debut Pure Heroine. But as any kid who’s ever paid ANY REAL ATTENTION to Disney’s Aladdin can tell you: fame and fortune are not all they’re cracked-up to be, dear readers. All the magazine covers, the huge festival gigs, the Grammy nods, the The Hunger Games soundtrackery, the constant hanging-out with Nirvana… these things take their toll, man! There’s just so much pressure. So much nodding and smiling. So many egos. So much… MELODRAMA. Hell, if only there was a way to make money off of THAT, right? Ha… Oh. Wait. THERE IS.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you: Melodrama, Lorde’s sophomore album. She’s already kicked off melodramatic levels of hysteria with the release of the video for the album’s first single “Green Light.” And now, she’s revealed the new album’s cover, announced an official June 16 release date via LAVA/Republic Records, and unveiled another new track from the album, “Liability.”

The complete tracklist has yet to be revealed, but you can pre-order the album a million different ways right now, weep along histrionically to “Liability” down below, and catch her sure-to-be-satisfactorily-lugubrious debut on Saturday Night Live tomorrow night (March 11)!

I know, I know: it’s all a LOT to process. But…well, just try to keep your all sensationally theatrical “emotions” in-check. Okay?
