“Mac” is just one of those names. It seems to carry mischief with it. Some examples? You’ve got Mac DeMarco, playing those crunchy little detuned CCR jams about cigarettes, pledging affection for Jar Jar Binks. You’ve got, uh, the Big Mac — a burger with a third piece of bread in the middle and a sauce you’re supposed to take at face value and not ask to many questions about. And then, you’ve got Mac Miller, who, in the course of this decade, has carved himself out a career as…uh, basically “the thinking person’s frat rapper,” I guess? He’s actually a pretty enigmatic figure, if you think about it long enough (but not too long).
Anyhow, Mac’s got a new album coming out via Warner Bros on August 3. It’s called Swimming, and it’s the follow-up to 2016’s The Divine Feminine.
Swimming includes the previously released track “Small Worlds” and a new single, “Self Care,” which comes with a Christian Weber-directed music video you can watch below. Doggy-paddle your browser over here to pre-order the album now.
