Apart from, maybe, being on Earth and breathing, can you think of anything else that you’ve been doing for 30 years?
If you were a member of The Necks, you could answer: “Yes, I’ve been improvising the shit out of music and turning pre-conceived ideas about art and music on its head in the process for 30 years.”
But if you’re reading this, chances are you’re not a member of The Necks, because why would you bother reading news about yourself when you should be busy creating more mind-bending avant-jazz jams? Therefore, all non-The Necks readers, you ought to know that The Necks are celebrating their 30th year of existence by touring Europe in November.
The tour will include residences in London’s Café OTO and Copenhagen Jazzhouse, as well as participating in The Chain Event in Amsterdam, which will be an eight-hour relay of continuous music with like-minded jazz weirdos including Axel Dörner, Xaviar Charles, John Butcher, Michael Vatcher, Kai Fagaschinski, Michael Thieke, Magda Mayas, and Ivar Grydeland.
Mark a few dates in your diary and give yourself the next day off too, because The Necks have a habit of blowing minds with their live shows. Check out the tour dates here.
