Metal supergroup Old Man Gloom (featuring members of ISIS, Cave In, Zozobra, and Converge) have announced that they will be “caving in” and “converging” together for some shows. The tour, albeit a short one, will be the band’s first of the West Coast in nearly a decade, in support of their new album, NO. Additionally, for fans in Portland, Old Man Gloom will be joined by Big Business and The Melvins, making a night with not just a supergroup, but a super-lineup. Dates are listed below.
For those of you wondering why it took so long for Old Man Gloom to head back to the West Coast, let me offer an explanation: 2012 actually marks a very significant date, a date predicted by an ancient society: the year of the Cleansing Equinox, a two-week period in September that only occurs every six years when metal-heads from across the globe feel compelled to visit California (the sunniest place on Earth) and step out of their doom-and-gloom lifestyles by hitting the beach, cruising for chicks on the L.A. strip, hanging-ten, getting tans, and making a very uncharacteristic trip to Disneyland.
