Mere weeks ago we whet your appetite for Oneohtrix Point Never’s next film score for the forthcoming film Good Time (which, among other things, features a collaboration with some guy with the unfortunate name of “Iggy Pop”).
Since reading that, you’ve probably been playing and re-playing the trailer and trying to extrapolate the entire score in your mind (not realizing that you could simply watch it down below instead) and driving yourself increasingly crazy with the thought of just how good Lopatin’s soundtrack is likely to be. Right?
Well, we hate to do this to you, dear reader, but: go ahead and picture how good the Good Time score is in your head on more time…
Okay…now double it. Because the score has just won the Soundtrack Award at the super well respected Cannes Film Festival. In fact, Lopatin even beat out Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood (and some other guys named Jed Kurzel, and Ibrahim Maalouf) and now joins the ranks of such illustrious former winners as Cliff Martinez (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Howard Shore, and SQÜRL (Jim Jarmusch’s band).
We can now also confirm the film’s release is set for August 22.
Not long my pretties.
