Okay, so we’re all adults here, we all know what a “tour” is. Yes, it’s basically like a sexual walkabout plus or minus the sex depending on who you are and with a few more musical performances thrown in for good measure. It’s when a musical group travels around any number of nations in search of folks who will give them money to play the music that they made. It can also describe the thing my roommate awkwardly insists on giving everyone who visits our one-room apartment.
Now that we’ve got what a tour is exactly covered in more inane detail than was really necessary, let’s talk about how OOIOO are about to go on one. Because you’re a loyal reader and love having things over-explained to you, you’ve already read my news post about how OOIOO are planning to release their fifth full-length (and first since 2009) entitled Gamel on July 1 with Thrill Jockey. You also probably read Muqks’ track write-up of “Atatawa” from the album, so you know all about what this whole tour thing is going to sound like. I’ve also got an extra detail for you: this is OOIOO’s first tour in seven years! Wowzah! Check out the video below of the band playing “Atatawa” live in the studio if for some weird reason you’re still not sure you believe me about the fact that OOIOO are a band that tours and that can play music.
