Perfume Genius announces spring tour with serpentwithfeet, supports new album that no one knows about yet

Holy shit, this is it! Seattle-based Mike Hadreas, a.k.a. Perfume Genius, has just announced his brand new, spectacular, colossal, shiny, follow-up… tour???

Well, yeah, that’s right. See: he does indeed have a new album coming out this spring (his fourth, if you’re counting; and they seem to keep getting bolder and brighter every time). Buuuut, we don’t know any details about it at all yet, with the exception of its coming-soon-ness (e.g. “this spring”) and a bit of press-release tantalization that assures us that its new songs “[go] even further, merging church music, makeout music, R&B, art pop, krautrock, and queer soul into his take on stadium anthems.”

But while we all salivate to imagine the hypothetically-spectacular intersection of church music and makeout music, Hadreas has decided to go out and do what musicians (shudder!) USED TO DO ALL THE TIME: play lots of shows to excite and entertain people! To that end, he’s announced a whole bunch of tour dates for later this spring, including his collaboration with Weyes Blood at this year’s Marfa Myths fest and May dates with serpentwithfeet. F^*king brilliant, right?! Hey, they don’t call this kid a “genius” for nothing.

All the tickets go on sale this Friday (February 17). In the meantime, get a taste of the visceral-yet-elegant drama that is a Perfume Genius live performance right down below (fingers crossed that there’s just as many harpsichords and vocal choirs in the new stuff).
