The National are being forced to bring along on-the-rise band Phosphorescent with them on their upcoming fall tour of Europe because Mom said so. Despite protests from every member of The National, who raised such complaints as “they smell,” “they eat their boogers,” “they’re such dorks,” and “they embarrass us,” Mom is sticking to her guns and making Phosphorescent tag along so that the bands can spend some quality time together. Phosphorescent tried to hide their excitement at a chance to tour Europe, but quickly remembered that they would be the victim of hazing and pranks during the entire trip.
In a revealing journal entry, someone we suspect from The National wrote: “I can’t believe that Mom is making us do this. For the first time in our life as a band, we we’re going to get the chance to spend some time with friends, alone, in Europe. But now Mom is making Phosphorescent come with! After an album like High Violet (TMT Review), we deserve better. That little group of nerds is going to make it impossible to talk to girls. SHEESH! Thanks a lot, Mom.”
The National is expected to try a last-ditch attempt to rid themselves of Phosphorescent, a fervent plea to Dad, but it is highly expected that Dad will just side with Mom and then go into his office until dinner.
Besides the tourdates in Europe, Phosphorescent have also scheduled a handful of US dates to promote this year’s Here’s To Taking It Easy (TMT Review) on Dead Oceans, which include performances at the Treasure Island Festival in San Francisco and Seattle’s City Arts Festival.
