Finally, some good Christian values in electronic pop music. After the likes of The Knife (who I believe worship a forest spirit) and Matthew Dear (who worships a monster of grime and oil), I thought there would never be an electro-pop act for the lord. Thank God for Purity Ring, a band whose name speaks to the important act of making your body a temple. Even if you have to snap ribs and crawl inside another person to make that temple.
According to Christian teen label 4AD, the duo are spreading their message of abstinence across North America in January. They will be accompanied by Young Magic, a group of nice, clean-cut kids from Brooklyn.
Purity Ring also announced a sequel to their single “Belispeak.” The track, appropriately titled “Belispeak II,” features verses from Detroit MC Danny Brown. Now, Mr. Brown seems like a talented young man, but I just don’t know if he’s a Christian. Praying for him.
