Purling Hiss believe that dark times are nigh, and to be honest, the band is probably right.
Instead of hiding away in some bunker or making an equally dark and complicated album to reflect the times, Mike Polizze and the now permanent cohort of Purling Hiss, who delivered 2014’s excellent Weirdon, have created a record that, according to Drag City, “moves with raging, dazed humor and soulfulness against the darkening times in which we find ourselves. With no way out, Purling Hiss hit today’s bullshit head-on, employing pounding psych-rock and punk effects, slipping signature Hissian backup “oo-oo-ooh”s and Polizze’s blistering guitar pile-ups in a full-bodied, head-ripping brew.”
The aforementioned head-ripping brew is called High Bias and is available through Drag City October 14.
The lead singe “Fever” is out now and the tracklist for the whole shebang is below.
