Raekwon expects to release two albums in 2011; we expect it, too

It’s hard to believe that Raekwon released Only Built 4 Cuban Linx Part 2 (TMT Review) back in September 2009. I could’ve sworn that the album was released in August 2009! Time flies. Well, I hope 2011 flies by too, because then the wait between the two expected Rae albums will only feel that much shorter.

Yep, that’s right. According to VIBE (via 2dopeboyz), The Chef expects to release not one, not three, but two albums in 2011. These include not only the much-anticipated, due-on-March-8th Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang — which was originally intended as a Wu-minus-RZA response to 8 Diagrams (TMT Review) — but also another as-yet untitled full-length that features production from the likes of Just Blaze and Kanye West, due tentatively in October. Actually, let me just copy/paste the news from VIBE:

The Chef’s got more cooking for 2011 than just his much-anticipated fifth LP, Shaolin Vs. Wu-Tang (due in March). A source close to Raekwon tells VIBE that the storytelling MC has plans for a second album before 2012 hits. The as-yet-untitled project, said to contain more “DJ-oriented” and “harmony-based” records—will feature production by the likes of Just Blaze and Kanye West, while keeping with the traditional Wu-Tang sound and aesthetic. Recorded while Rae simultaneously created the kung-fu heavy concept album Shaolin Vs. Wu-Tang, the halfway complete opus is expected to drop in October.
