If you can believe it, Montreal’s about to get just a little bit cooler — and more caffeinated! (Sorry, folks.) This year’s Red Bull Music Academy lineup in Montreal has been announced, and it includes such highlights as “une conversation avec Iggy Pop”; a DJ set by Björk, as well as the premiere of a new VR film from Vulnicura; Fucked Up b/w Inuk throat singer Tanya Tagaq; Tiga; Jacques Greene; Tim Hecker; a celebration of Quebecois drone bands; and a lot of other amazing events, such as “an underwater listening experience,” “ice skating jam,” and “a celebration of Montreal disco.”
The magic happens September 24-October 28 at the Phi Centre, where 70 specially selected artists from 38 countries will be on hand to awe and inspire you. The DHC/ART Foundation for Contemporary Art will play host to all the Björk/VR shenanigans. Other locations at this enchanted event include the Montreal Planetarium and the city’s Olympic Pool. More info about the whole experience can be found here.
