Sacred Bones announces 12-inch release of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross' version of John Carpenter's Halloween theme, new Halloween OST out now

Last year, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross gave their patented “In the Hall of the Mountain King” treatment to another universally beloved piece of music history — John Carpenter’s classic theme from his 1978 film Halloween. By which I mean, ya know: they recorded their own version of it.

And now, that version is getting its very own physical release via Sacred Bones, who are also releasing the soundtrack for the brand-new remake of Halloween directed by David Gordon Green, which features a score from the original film’s composer (oh, and director and writer), John Carpenter.

The Reznor and Ross EP releases October 26, and the vinyl will feature their version of the theme on one side and John Carpenter’s 2017 Anthology version on the other. It is available on both orange and black vinyl.

Meanwhile, Carpenter’s score for the new Halloween, made in collaboration with Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies, was released TODAY (October 19). Spooky coincidence!

Pre-order the Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross Halloween EP right here and snag John Carpenter, Cody Carpenter, and Daniel Davies’ new Halloween score over here.

In addition, Carpenter, Carpenter, and Davies are touring behind the score for a few dates (mostly in the UK). Peruse them below, after streaming a bit of the new Halloween. To hell with that crappy “old” one!

Carpenter, Carpenter, and Davies dates:

10.18.18: Newcastle, UK - Tyne Theatre
10.19.18 - Glasgow, UK - Barrowlands
10.21.18 - Manchester, UK - Albert Hall
10.31.18 - Los Angeles, US - Palladium
