There are two great things about bands — in this case, Sebadoh — touring. There’s the nature of the event, being that you get to see the greatness that is and has been Lou Barlow for the last two decades. Then — and this gets a little more tricky — there’s that pairing that comes every once in a while between two artists that just really makes sense in sharing a bill. This spring, it’s Sebadoh, with Richard Buckner as support — very fitting, since Lou Barlow has made his peace with Dinosaur Jr. and Richard Buckner has gone a little while without crooning about past relationships. His last album, in fact, was in 2006, but Merge promises that he’s working on new material to satisfy the moody, sensitive folk sect. Who could ask for more?
(Note, in light of Sebadoh’s habit of tours like wine-and-cheese pairings: they just finished a tour of the West Coast with Quasi, which, you know, makes sense too.)
