Secret Boyfriend to release Memory Care Unit on Blackest Ever Black

Blackest Ever Black is releasing a new one from Secret Boyfriend, the improvisational ambient project of North Carolina-based Ryan Martin. Memory Care Unit is the followup to 2013’s This Is Always Where You’ve Lived, but it’s a departure from that sometimes hard-edged, sometimes more traditional (in comparison to WHAT, you ask? IDK.), sometimes folkier release from Martin. The new album is more like an ocean of synths, hazy textures, and haunting atmospheres, all recorded straight to tape from live improvisations.
