Ultra-rare debut album from Belong getting ultra-cool repressed version on ultra-fun label Spectrum Spools (stream an ultra-fuzzy single now)
(Being in a band sure looks like a lot of fun, doesn't it?)

Belong is a duo composed of Mike Jones and Turk Dietrich. Once upon a time, in 2006, a humble little album of theirs called October Language was released on Carpark Records. Though it became a fuzzy ambient cult classic, it wasn’t until three years passed that it got its first vinyl pressing on Geographic North. But then, suddenly, this ultra-rare record sold out, disappearing completely from our grasp, never to be heard from or released on an ultra-cool record label ever again.

Until now.

Spectrum Spools, the ultra-hip label that brought you the likes of Container, Brett Naucke, and Yves De Mey, is re-releasing Belong’s ultra-classic debut this ultra-April with “reimagined” cover art and three ultra-new bonus ultra-tracks. You heard that right: buyers of this vinyl release will get three new ultra-impossible-to-find tracks from a tour EP of the same era. You know, from when the band opened for Ariel Pink and stuff?

This ultra-newly-mastered debut (as well as their sophomore LP released on Kranky) have drawn them comparisons to the likes of Gas, Fennesz, and Tim Hecker. Yeah, it’s that kind of music. To top it off you can get a full serving of that sound right now as you stream the first ultra-atmospheric single, “Red Velvet Or Nothing” below. I believe it’s named for the duo’s ultra-picky dessert tastes.

October Language is out April 20 and can be (finally!) pre-ordered here. And if you want those ultra-limited three bonus tracks, make sure you buy the physical copy. Digital-only freeloaders (as we call ‘em around here) won’t get those ultra-steamy new songs, but…the choice is yours! Either way, go ahead, go get your hands on one! Then we can all live ultra-happily ever after.
