According to The Quietus, Sunn O))), exalted abbots of the order of the sacred drone, have recently uploaded over 65 live recordings of their shows — dating back to 2002 and as recent as last May — to a new Bandcamp site, their Live Archives. These are all fan-recorded bootlegs, unmastered, unmixed, and as raw as they get. It’s also a trove that we can expect to grow, since the band has invited fans to upload their own recordings and share any visual material they may have. So, there’s your chance to become a deacon in the glorious church of Sunn O))).
As it stands, the vault is already a delight for fans, with registers of the band as an instrumental trio (Anderson-O’Malley-Ritter), with vocals (Malefic, Attila, Xasthur), synths, bass, drums, and additional electronics, and even as an almighty six-piece, including Oren Ambarchi as a guest. You can stream all the shows, and download them for a small benefaction, here. Have a taste of their Chicago 2006 show, below.
