Tegan and Sara have been lauded as America’s “Canadian Sweethearts,” bringing together crowds like modern tween goths and their moms having a good time at Hot Topic, community college pseudos at Starbucks, country music adulterers, and, hey, maybe even Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders. As the states continue to roll into a disastrous katamari, the musicians attempt to heal wounds with the release of Love You to Death on June 3. Their eighth studio album is produced by Greg Kurstin (Beck, Elle Goulding, Adele, Sia).
Although most people remember Tegan and Sara from their dorm days of sharing an earbud with a homeless man named Steve, the younger, more powerful millennials know of the sisters from the groundbreaking LEGO Movie single “Everything Is Awesome.” If you’re Jack White, you only know them from that one song of theirs that you covered. And if you’re just a normal person, you probably heard them on NPR in a truck stop bathroom.
