Pass the lingonberries, please, because Taken By Trees and Jens Lekman have announced new albums and a supporting tour across the US this fall. Taken By Trees’ new record is called Other Worlds and finds singer and multi-instrumentalist Victoria Bergsman exploring a recent trip to Hawaii with photographer Amanda Marsalis. Paired with The Tough Alliance producer Henning Fürst, the album’s sound is said to feel “light, cool, and laid back.” Order up a mai tai in a coconut and hit play when the album drops October 2, courtesy of Secretly Canadian.
Meanwhile, as we recently reported, Lekman’s newest long player is titled I Know What Love Isn’t, that poor unlucky fella, and will be released on Secretly Canadian September 4 in the US. Jettisoning the full sound of 2007’s Night Falls on Kortedala, the new album is said to feature “strings but not a string section, an upright piano not grand” — it’s a less-is-more effort this time around, and it’s sure to leave us all moist in the eyes and in the pants, if you know what I mean. But what’s better than two new Swedish delights this fall? A tour featuring both of the aforementioned artists! After touring through Europe in September, Lekman will hook up with Taken By Trees in October for an extensive jaunt through the US. Be sure to bring them tidings of pickled herring and meatballs to keep them from getting too homesick as they entertain us from coast to coast.
