Whoa, y’all. FORGET the Cubs and Indians or whatever. Welcome to Great News City, USA. Population = TRIBE.
Literally just the other day, TMT WAS ALL LIKE: “Q-tip confirms new album from A Tribe Called Quest,” to be released on November 11. Kind of a huge deal, since (a) Phife is no longer with us, (b) this is to be the group’s final album, and (c) their last one BEFORE THIS came out… oh, 18 years ago.
Well, today, TMT is all like: “we’ve got some even more ridiculous news tidbits for you to chomp at!” In an interview this morning with The New York Times, the band revealed (aside from the fact that Jack White is a huge ATCQ fan) that the album will be (amazingly and beautifully) entitled We Got It From Here, Thank You for Your Service. Furthermore, the album will feature a couple of people you may have heard of, such as André 3000, Kendrick Lamar, Elton John, Busta Rhymes, and the aforementioned White Stripes frontman. Recording took place at Q-Tip’s studio in Jersey, and all tribe members (yup, including the late Phife) contributed.
Soooo, I know there’s a World Series and a US Presidential Election we gotta muddle-through first, but hang in there. November 11 is seriously SOON AF.
