Back in 2008, TV on the Radio dropped Dear Science (TMT Review), a highly acclaimed record of jittery art rock. Before that, in 2006, TV on the Radio dropped Return to Cookie Mountain (TMT Review), a highly acclaimed record of jittery art rock. Before even that, all the way back in 2004, TV on the Radio dropped Desperate Youth, Bloodthirsty Babes, a highly acclaimed record of jittery art rock. There’s a pattern here and it’s a pattern that TV on the Radio totally screwed up by not releasing a highly acclaimed record of jittery art rock in 2010. Way to blow it, TV on the Radio!
TV on the Radio seem to have realized that they have, in fact, messed up, and they’re doing their best to make it right. This spring, the band will release Nine Types of Light through Interscope. If all goes according to plan, it will be highly acclaimed and probably contain a good bit of jittery art rock. Really, if they want to throw us for a loop, they should make a poorly received ska record. Pick it up pick it up pick it up.
The group will also make their return to the live stage with a show at Radio City Music Hall on April 13. Tickets for that will go on sale February 18 at 11:00 AM EST. A national tour is planned to kick off shortly after, to the surprise of nobody anywhere.
