When you hear the words “U.S. Girls,” it often conjures adult themes and situations in the minds of many men, women, and all other types of people. However, according to great American myth, there is legend that the “granny continent” breeds intelligent and creative female specimen.
Perhaps ironically (or un-ironically — I’m not really sure what either word means!), U.S. Girls, the solo project of Megan Remy, proves that pretty girls can make sweet lo-fi music without giving into the corporate music fat cats. Which is why U.S. Girls is now signed to FatCat Records — not to be confused with Jesse Katsopolis’ label, Fat Fish Records, on Full House.
Under the moniker, Remy has released albums on Siltbreeze, Palmist, and most recently KRAAK Records, to name but a few. Just watch the video for “Island Song” and try not to feel swooned by feminine nationality.
Yep, ‘merica couldn’t be prouder, and until the new FatCat release is announced we can catch U.S. Girls on tour. And I don’t mean catching Chlamydia! I mean hearing good live tunes. Go America!
