It’s 2010. You’re in a band that has checked its relevance at the door and now makes headlines collaborating with random musicians and putting out ridiculous albums. You’ve already worked with the likes of Lil Wayne and Kenny G, so now it’s time to move on to another musician that gets attention for the same absurd reasons that you do. Enter: Weezer’s new collaboration with Ryan Adams. The two attention-grabbing, music critic-frustrating musical entities are teaming up for a new song that Rivers Cuomo told MTV is going to be on the next Weezer album:
I just wrote a song with Ryan Adams. Not Bryan, Ryan. It’s a very stirring and emotional and powerful Weezer song. He was really inspiring to work with. … He has a lot of wild and crazy energy. It’s gonna be on the Weezer record. He plays lead guitar on it, but it will be on the Weezer record, for sure.
