Definitions of “fancy” might differ from fan to fan, but I’m thinking that hanging out with fellow psych-pop freak and frequent collaborator Cate Le Bon at her Staveley estate, writing new music “in the Lake District (Northern England)” where “everywhere you look is the most beautiful serene British landscapes” sounds fancy enough for almost everyone I know. (You too? Thought so.)
White Fence, or Tim Presley’s White Fence as it is this time around, will release I Have to Feed Larry’s Hawk on January 25 through Drag City. Yes, the man synonymous with riotous rave-ups, mini punk operas, and sixties-obsessed, stir-fried psychedelia is BACK with his first White Fence album since 2014’s For the Recently Found Innocent, and — I would like to think — the world is a little bit fancier for it.
To celebrate the release, Presley and DC have shared “Lorelei”, the first single off the album, which can be heard below. Choose between 2xLP, CD, cassette, or digital iterations of I Have to Feed Larry’s Hawk here or here — or maybe just buy them all, and you’ll be so fancy, you won’t even know…
