Two of the baddest women in all of dark electronic music are joining forces. Alice Glass, formerly of the band Crystal Castles, is embarking on a tour with none other than goth queen Zola Jesus. Both artists released critically positive albums last year that were also deeply cathartic; Glass alleged that her former bandmate sexually abused her, while Jesus’ Okovi…well, let’s just say the album name, translating as “shackles,” is a good indicator of the mood.
Jesus has now remixed Alice Glass’ “Stillbirth” (the original, 2015 track being Glass’s first solo work following her departure from CC and detailing the alleged abuses she suffered in that relationship) for your listening pleasure and/or aural catharsis. The rework is a complete inverse of the original, stripping the song of its harsher industrial elements to focus primarily on its vocal harmonies. Check it out down below.
The Snowblood tour also comprises Glass’s first solo North American outing, and many dates also feature Pictureplane (the dude who gave witch house its moniker) — so, there’s no better show to attend if you’re looking to get your Dark-on this spring.
