I get it. Like, we can’t book a flight or have juice on our chins without thinking about The Avalanches, but are we really supposed to give a shit about a band that has long since left us? I mean, do we really want to reward their perceived laziness with the sort of ridiculous, sensationalized attention that we usually reserve for millionaire pop stars? Isn’t all of this just meaningless drivel in the face of an increasingly dreadful world!?
Yes, yes, and of course! But we’re excited anyway to reveal that, after announcing festival appearances, teasing new music, dropping trailers, and even dropping trailers for interviews, The Avalanches have officially announced its long-anticipated, 16-years-in-the-making, it’s-about-fucking-time new album, Wildflower.
Wildflower features 21 tracks and is available July 8 via Astralwerks/Modular. It boasts guests like Danny Brown, Biz Markie, (MF) DOOM, Mercury Rev, Warren Ellis (Dirty Three), Father John Misty, Jennifer Herrema, Camp Lo, Toro Y Moi, and more. The tracklist can be found below.
Details were announced on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show, after the premiere of The Avalanches’s new single “Frankie Sinatra.” The track features Detroit cutie Danny Brown and pan-geographical heartthrob DOOM. UPDATE: A video for the song is now available. Watch it here:
