Oh! Hey, sorry I didn’t see you there. Um, yeah… It’s true! Australian pop-star-in-the-making Banoffee just announced her debut album, called Look At Us Now Dad. You know you saw her with the crew when she toured with Charli XCX and T Swift? Oh wait, you were sick that week… uhhhh
Well, I hate to say it but the new record features all your friends pretty much :/ Like, SOPHIE and CupcakKe and Empress Of and Umru are all on it. Oh and Lizzo’s creative director Quinn Whitney Wilson made the music video for “Tennis Fan” featuring Empress Of. I’m like, sorry that you weren’t invited… weren’t you out of town or something? No? …Well, whatever. I mean you can watch the video down below literally right now. It’s not really a big deal. They weren’t like talking about you or anything.
Look, I can’t be expected to include you on everything. This album is about survival, about making it through abuse and reclaiming your own voice. Can you just chill out and appreciate that for a second? Think about something other than yourself. Banoffee literally described this record by saying “each song uses human experience to talk about more complex concepts of addiction, obsession, heartbreak, and resurrection. Not to dwell in sadness, but to join hands.” My bad if your hands weren’t included there. Jeez.
Okay, seriously: Look At Us Now Dad comes out on February 21 of next year. I’m sure you will have gotten over this by then. Just pre-order it and chill out. Did you just ask if I think she’s cooler than you? I honestly like don’t even want to answer that question. Just text me later. Next time I’ll definitely invite you. I promise.
