Broadcast’s classic, long-OOP LPs to be re-pressed, will make your spring much dreamier

Before we begin, for those not familiar with Broadcast’s stunning oeuvre, over the course of their existence, this space-age group of dream pop experimentalists built on the foundation of forbears like The United States of America. Starting in the mid-90s as a quintet, the group released a string of incredible albums for Warp, paring down to the duo of Trish Keenan and James Cargill for 2005’s Tender Buttons. In 2009, the pair teamed up with Julian House of The Focus Group for the library music-influenced Broadcast and the Focus Group Investigate Witch Cults of the Radio Age, sadly the group’s final official album. Front woman Trish Keenan tragically passed away in 2011 due to complications from pneumonia. The group’s final release was the soundtrack to Peter Strickland’s excellent 70s giallo homage film Berberian Sound Studio, which they had begun work on before Keenan’s death and was completed by Cargill.

Broadcast’s classic LPs have long been out of print on vinyl, but Warp has just announced re-pressings, which will be available March 9. Work and Non Work, The Noise Made By People, HaHa Sound, Tender Buttons, The Future Crayon, and Broadcast and the Focus Group Investigate Witch Cults of the Radio Age will all be available for those hazy spring afternoons when it’s just a little too cold to venture outside but beautiful enough to stare longingly outside the largest window in your home (assuming your home has windows). Head over to Bleep to pre-order.
