There is a festival in the Arizona desert that you have to apply to attend (sorry, douchebags) a place where you can watch artists like Pharmakon, Julianna Barwick, and How To Dress Well and go to “cliffside pool parties.”
Yes. This is real life. Some people will be living this. Wow. Is there an omelette bar staffed entirely by mystical leprechauns that grant wishes without you having to catch them, too? Maybe an endlessly-regenerating champagne fountain in the shape of Nick Cave riding a unicorn? Because if so, this really would be a fairytale come true.
Anyway, this festival of wonders is called FORM and will take place across three days at this insane/incredible dreamworld called Urban Laboratory Arcosanti. Curated by the band Hundred Waters and L.A.-based artistic development peeps FAMILY, this is the second edition of the fest, and it features hikes, art installations, a Moog Sound Lab, and running around the magicalness that is Arcosanti. Of course, there’ll also be a bunch of musicians like Hundred Waters, The Antlers, Holly Herndon, Majical Cloudz, Jacques Greene, Mutual Benefit, Julie Byrne, Moses Sumney, Mas Ysa, The Range, Mitski, M Geddes Gengras, Last Lizard, Bing and Ruth, Kodak to Graph, TokiMonsta, She Devils, Gentle Pony, Machinedrum, Durante, and Azul.
Capacity is limited and you have to apply like you’re trying to get into a good college, so I don’t know, maybe you’ll, like, become friends with all the people going or something NICE like that. Details, beautiful photos and application are online here.
