Last we heard, the whereabouts of Jackie Lynn were unknown, but thanks to the generally warm reception that her (fictionally) artifactual debut received on Thrill Jockey beginning roughly a month ago, it appears the storied cocaine dealer in the characteristic red cowboy hat has finally deemed it time to relinquish her fugitive status. Haley Fohr a.k.a. Circuit Des Yeux will be touring as Jackie Lynn beginning this August, and just in case you were exceedingly fed up with all of the mystery surrounding this new musical persona, a nine-minute Jackie Lynn “documentary” has also been uploaded, which turns out to be… not all that revealing about the infamous character, considering the abundant hearsay.
What are some interesting tidbits from the doc regardless? One moment that stands out to me is when an acquaintance of Jackie Lynn, “Coco Padmouse,” talks about the production value of Lynn’s performances and how they undoubtedly required “so much money” to stage. So maybe look forward to that if you plan on attending one of the shows below (after the documentary itself), and also note Circuit Des Yeux’s plethora of intermingling tour dates here. It must be hard work maintaining these songwriter faces.
