While their names sound like the Japanese term for a Roman shower and one of Miley Cyrus’ favorite recreational activities, respectively, NGUZUNGUZU and Salva are actually L.A.-based electronic artists whose output is generally bass-heavy and well-traveled in sound. The likeminded musicians are about to embark on a North American tour, hitting up clurrrrb destinations from coast to coast as well as some presumably less thumping locales like Portland and Austin, TX for SXSW, where they’ll be performing three times, including as part of the Friends of Friends showcase alongside the likes of Shlomo and Ernesto Gonzalez. Expect to get sweaty.
NGUZUNGUZU is pronounced “en-goo-zoo-en-goo-zoo” according to the duo of Asma Maroof and Daniel Pineda who make up the difficultly named outfit. Make sure and say it three times, fast, at the show to impress your friends. Salva, originally from Chicago, by way of San Francisco, owns the Frite Nite label and enjoys Red Bull. Check them out when they pass through your town, and don’t forget to bring your dancing shoes!
