I wish the exchange rate between dollars and euros was not quite as painful as it currently is, because I would be buying pretty much everything put out by the French independent publishing company Shelter Press. They recently released Ben Vida’s very-limited-edition Slipping Control; a beautiful book by Shelter Press co-founders Félicia Atkinson and Bartolomé Sanson featuring musings on “petrified forests,” “clay,” and Henry Miller; and they have cute tote bags. I’ll take one of everything, please (my wallet just groaned audibly).
But that’s not all! Shelter Press just announced that they’ll be releasing Reveries, a combined effort by Brooklyn composer Noveller (a.k.a. Sara Lipstate) and Montreal’s Thisquietarmy (Eric Quach). The four-track, 33-minute-long LP will be released on white vinyl July 1, with 500 copies available. The album features both artists on guitar, creating intricate, layered pieces that bring to mind “empty architecture, luminosity, rocks, and deserted zones,” according to Shelter Press.
Listen to the first track from the album, “Reverie 1,” below. Might have to bite the bullet and deal with the exchange rate for this one. Sorry, wallet!
