James Ferraro, data sewage expert and lover of angiosperm, is doing a solo exhibition titled “Extinction Renaissance” at the Loyal Gallery in Stockholm. Not many details are revealed about the exhibition itself, but it’s expected to feature new visuals, sounds, and maybe a fidget spinner or two. It’s also subtitled “3D printed biome for the nomadic gluten intolerant,” if that helps.

Japanese Breakfast Soft Sounds From Another Planet
Styles: indie pop, synthpop, chamber pop, dream pop
Others: Beach House, Future Islands
Who cares what we talk about when we talk about love? Where Michelle Zauner’s justly acclaimed first album, Psychopomp, dealt with her mother’s death, Soft Sounds From Another Planet is an odyssey of that other staple of the psyche and of the pop world: romance.
But what if romantic love is not what we find when we go exploring? What if it’s not the only thing in the universe? What if it’s not the only thing worth talking about?

In a little over three weeks, Warp will be releasing Oneohtrix Point Never’s soundtrack to the Safdie brothers’ film, Good Time. The soundtrack has already won the Best Soundtrack Award at Cannes, so basically everything from here on out is a victory lap since winning is the only thing that matters in this world. I’ve lost so many times in my life, which is why I’m now a music journalist, but Mr.

My father’s family was originally Scotch-Irish, an ethnic group of Scots that settled in Ulster, Ireland and later emigrated Westward in droves. This is where my surname comes from. I quite literally have a Scotch Heart; my aortic valves stubbornly reach back before a time when “whiteness” meant something so ubiquitously insidious, before we had names for our aggressions but long after we started mapping and colonizing difference.

Relationships can be strange. The dynamics, the language, the mere expressions — everything that occurs when two people are in a close relationship makes it hard for those outside of it to see the people for who they truly are, as if something is inherently lost to the observer. And yet, a relationship can be a powerful way to inspire the people in it to be more than themselves. So much creativity comes not just from being in a relationship, but also from one’s partner having a proactive role in their creative life, serving as a push in the right direction or as a supporting element.

Styles: kuduro continuum, tarraxo, house, trance, funk
Others: Foodman, DJ Nigga Fox, DJ Marfox
Nídia (f.k.a. Nidia Minaj) occupies a position of liminality on her new album, Nídia é Má, Nídia é Fudida. She is everywhere and nowhere, an animating presence and a ghostly remnant. She conjures tracks from the ether, works them into off-kilter shapes, and rests them obliquely against the kuduro continuum, where they can fizz and pound of their own accord.

Prolific electronic artist Eric Copeland has announced a return to the venerable DFA Records for his third release with the label and (only) his second album for 2017. The album is called Goofballs and will be available September 22, but if you want to experience the feeling of actually transacting money for theoretical ownership of Goofballs, you can pre-order it now.

Boomkat Editions is back in action with a new release from its ongoing 12x12” series (which has previously featured such brilliant artists as Raime, Kara Lis-Coverdale, and Beatrice Dillon), and this one’s a real doozy: V/Vm, the long-running project from The Caretaker’s James Leyland Kirby, has provided the label with old productions from 2006, “mixed and chopped to mucky perfection” by Miles of Demdike Stare in 2017, and it’s called Brabant Schrobbeler.
